Women in Leadership

Wherever you stand on political issues, this year the hot topic of the glass ceiling cannot be avoided.  From Hillary Clinton to Sarah Palin—the talk around the water cooler is about women in a prominent leadership role. Read More »

Everyone’s In Public Relations

As a communications major, several classes in Public Relations were required for graduation. Although some of my textbooks and classroom experiences were beneficial, nothing replaced being in the work world, and seeing Public Relations first hand.

The number of corporate executives who believe they are the sol face of their firm is shocking. While they clearly have a position of leadership that is respected and desirable, they are not the only PR agent for their corporation. Read More »

Integrity: Another Asset of Inestimable Value

Over the past month, I have been on the road visiting clients and prospects.  Many organizations I have seen  have stuck out to me for common sense attributes that should penetrate any business or ministry if they wish to succeed. Read More »

Life and Business is Relationships

I have heard that phrase for years. I have tried to buy the domain name. And after this week, I am even more convinced that life is truly centered around relationships.

This past week our team attended the ICRS convention in Orlando, Florida. The trip was packed with non-stop time together, back-to-back meetings, nice dinners, and – oh yeah – humidity. I had no doubt that our team had the intellectual and relational skills to make our company shine in the industry, but I did wonder what a 24/7-week together would look like. I was not disappointed. Coffee Futures Rise to Over $4 a Gallon

Coffee is something I never could get into drinking. I tried. Especially in high school and college. Nowadays, I do enjoy going for the atmosphere and conversation, but admittedly have a hard time paying $4 for a chai tea.

I thought that trendy season would come to an end by the time I graduated, but I was wrong. There are eight Starbucks stores within five minutes of my house, and one more on the way.  Well, maybe not.

Social Networking - What’s Love Got To Do With It?

Technology. *Sigh*. Part of the reason I majored in Communications was so I could avoid as many technology and internet classes as possible. It seems I master one program, only to find out there is an “updated” or “new and improved” one available. I can hardly keep up with these new releases! Anyone out there feel my pain?!

The May 2008 Barna Technology Study addresses the trends of Social Networking. The popularity of this newest phenomenon has been impressed on me deeply: keeping up with 830 Facebook friends is a job in itself! I admit that I first experienced sheer frustration to the hundreds of wall posts and personal messages I would receive. Add that to three e-mail accounts and iChat, and you can see how I could hardly keep up!

New Iron, Rhinos, Culture, Oh My!

A comedian posed the question, “Who came up with animal names?” What a thought! On one hand you have the ox and on the other hand you have the rhinoceros. Completely different names for very similar animals, if you ask me.

Stop for a moment and consider the Rhino. A pastor friend told me that a group of Rhinos is called a Crash. I love random information like this. Here’s another one: Rhinos can run up to 35 miles per hour but they can only see 30 feet in front of their horn. Talk about a group of risk takers!
