Integrity: Another Asset of Inestimable Value

Over the past month, I have been on the road visiting clients and prospects.  Many organizations I have seen  have stuck out to me for common sense attributes that should penetrate any business or ministry if they wish to succeed.

What are some of those attributes that they represent ? I would like to focus on one as a challenge to your business, and to as set a standard for ours. Loyalty is one that we have already discussed.  The topic I want to address here is integrity.

The dictionary defines integrity as “the adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character and honesty.”  But what, exactly, does that mean for a company?  In a relativistic culture, how do we not only live with integrity, but how can the organizations we represent measure integrity?

Organizational integrity is an absolute framework.  The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy has stated five areas to access integrity. They are:

1. Integrity as the integration of self
2. Integrity as maintenance of identity
3. Integrity as standing for something
4. Integrity as moral purpose
5. Integrity as virtue

We at New Iron Media continually ask what the our structural integrity is. What is our identity, our moral framework, and our purpose?  What do we- and will we- stand for?

The concept of organizational integrity is a big one.  It is a question that cannot be tackled in a single entry. I challenge you to ask the question, because it may be what helps your organization stand out from the rest.
